Done properly, once.
The work that lasts thirty years and the work that lasts thirty months look identical on day one. The difference is what's behind the finish. We refuse to fake it.
Aftercare Aftercare is a Hampshire‑based home renovation and remedial specialist founded on a career inside Britain's largest housebuilders, and a deep architectural sensibility shaped by formal restoration training.
For thirty years our founder worked directly inside the UK's most established housebuilders, including Barratt Redrow, Bellway and Taylor Wimpey. From the laying of foundations through to the final coat of paint, the entire build process was learned the way it should be — on site, hands‑on, every day.
That insider knowledge is rare, and it changes the work. We know precisely how new homes are constructed, where defects originate, which materials genuinely last, and how a finish can be made to feel considered rather than rushed. It is the difference between knowing the rules and knowing the trade.
Layered onto that experience is something most contractors do not have: a degree in historical architectural restoration. It means every project is approached with respect for proportion, material, and the architectural character of the property — whether a 1930s coastal home or a brand‑new four‑bedroom on a Hampshire estate.
Aftercare Aftercare exists to give homeowners — and the housebuilders who occasionally need a specialist — a single, trusted, owner‑led source of work that holds.
Four principles run through every project — from the smallest mastic line to the largest structural alteration.
The work that lasts thirty years and the work that lasts thirty months look identical on day one. The difference is what's behind the finish. We refuse to fake it.
We know how new‑build homes are really constructed because we constructed them. That perspective lets us anticipate problems most contractors only meet at completion.
Materials, proportion, period detail, and how a space wants to read — these are not optional considerations. Restoration training shapes every decision we make.
One point of contact. One person whose name is on the work. Communication every week, not just when there's a problem. The clue is in the company name.
We will tell you when a project is too big, too small, or simply not the right call. We would rather be the firm you recommend than the one you regret.
After the invoice is paid, we walk through every room with you. Snags resolved. Questions answered. Then we check in long after the dust has settled.
